Brenda Oluoch
Climate Policy Advocate & Community Development Practitioner
Brendah Oluoch is a community development practitioner with a
background in Environmental Studies and Community Development. She
has over four years of experience in youth engagement, climate advocacy,
and environmental protection.
An alumna of Kenyatta University, the Nairobi Summer School on Climate
Justice, and the Aspire Leadership Program (Harvard), she is also a
member of the National Youth Climate Advisory Committee. She authored
African Youth and Climate Change: A Policy Brief in Light of COP 27.
Brendah specializes in solid waste and natural resource management,
with a keen interest in climate policy and global environmental
governance. In her free time, she enjoys nature, reading, movies, and
cooking.
Justine Kapanga
Environmental Scientist & Climate Advocate
Justine Kapanga is a dedicated environmental scientist, community
development practitioner, and climate advocate with over three years
of experience in waste management, conservation, and grassroots
mobilization. Having worked with Nairobi City County’s Department
of Environment, he has gained hands-on expertise in stakeholder
engagement, environmental surveys, and policy implementation.
Beyond local impact, Justine has contributed to global climate
dialogues such as the Break Free From Plastics Campaign and
collaborated with organizations like Pro Green Shapers and Debt for
Climate Kenya Movement. With a background in Environmental
Studies and Community Development from Kenyatta University, he
integrates research, policy advocacy, and community-driven
solutions to advance climate resilience and sustainable waste
management.
Vallary Ochieng
Climate Justice Advocate & Digital Communications Strategist
Vallary Ochieng is a passionate climate justice advocate and digital
communications strategist committed to addressing the intersection of
climate change and public health. She raises awareness of climate-induced
health crises, including waterborne diseases, air pollution, and food
insecurity, ensuring that vulnerable communities remain central in
climate policies.
With expertise in graphic design, content creation, and social media
engagement, Vallary transforms climate science and policy insights into
accessible narratives through digital storytelling and advocacy. Her work
with the HEY Campaign amplifies the public health impacts of climate
change in Africa, driving sustainable, people-centered solutions that
integrate climate resilience, health equity, and social justice.
Khalifah Salim Mwarangi
Founder, Diani Youth Beach Cleaning Kenya (DYBC)
Khalifah Salim Mwarangi is a dedicated climate champion
and marine conservationist committed to protecting coastal
ecosystems. As the founder of Diani Youth Beach Cleaning
Kenya (DYBC), he leads large-scale environmental
campaigns, including Africa’s biggest beach clean-up at Diani
Beach. His initiatives, such as the ‘Pencil for Plastic’ drive,
promote environmental literacy among young students. A
victim of terrorism, Khalifah integrates marine conservation
with peacebuilding, PCVE (Preventing and Countering Violent
Extremism), and drug awareness, recognizing the link
between climate resilience and social stability. Through
policy advocacy and digital literacy, he continues to inspire
communities to take ownership of climate action.
Derrick Kinyua
Assistant Program Manager, TeamEnvironment Kenya (TEK)
Derrick Kinyua is a dynamic assistant program manager
with a passion for environmental sustainability,
diplomacy, and international relations. With expertise in
youth development, capacity building, and community
engagement, he plays a key role at TeamEnvironment
Kenya (TEK), where he promotes sustainable
development, green job creation, and responsible resource
management. Derrick is dedicated to fostering
collaboration among stakeholders, advocating for
environmental accountability, and empowering
communities through issue-based approaches. His
strategic insights and policy expertise drive impactful
change for a more sustainable future.
David Ngure

David Ngure is a humanitarian, climate change activist, SRHR advocate, and policy analyst dedicated to championing economic empowerment, gender equality, and youth rights. As Chairman and Co-Founder of Sustainable Jamii Association and a Youth Sounding Board Member at the EU Delegation to Kenya, he amplifies youth voices in policy-making and advocates for inclusive development. With expertise in resource mobilization, social inclusion, and ICT4D, David has led impactful initiatives across governance, education, and community empowerment. His passion for research, teamwork, and strategic advocacy continues to drive
meaningful change for a more equitable society.

Seline Achieng Ochieng is a passionate human rights and
disability rights advocate committed to amplifying the voices of youth with disabilities in climate justice. With four years of experience in advocacy, she actively champions inclusivity in climate action, environmental conservation, and food security. As a proactive changemaker, Seline has implemented sustainable adaptation initiatives, including establishing a kitchen garden to enhance food security and participating in waste management efforts to promote environmental sustainability. She is dedicated to fostering equitable policies
and creating platforms that empower youth with disabilities to
lead climate solutions.

Violet Chege is a passionate advocate for environmental sustainability and climate
action. She is the developer of Kijani, a program focused on promoting eco-friendly
initiatives and fostering sustainable practices among communities. Violet has
actively contributed to climate resilience efforts, including participating in a
specialized training on climate adaptation spearheaded by the Global Centre on
Adaptation. With a strong commitment to driving meaningful change, she is
dedicated to empowering youth and communities to embrace sustainable
solutions for a greener future.

My name is Maimuna Mohamed, a founder of Lath midani
organization based in isiolo. I am a dedicated climate champion
working to protect our planet. Driven by a deep commitment to
environmental conservation, I have spearheaded numerous
initiatives to combat climate change. From leading tree planting
projects in Isiolo that have revitalized landscapes and inspired
local communities, to advocating for responsible waste
management practices, my dedication to regreening and
community engagement has not only restored ecosystems but
also fostered a greater awareness of the importance of
environmental stewardship. With a commitment to action and a vision for a greener tomorrow, I will continue to make a tangible difference in the fight against climate change.
